The wiring in your home can become damaged though use and deteriorate over time. Our electricians can partially or fully rewire your home, depending on what is needed, to keep everything safe and secure. We make sure all of our rewiring meets all relevant safety regulations, as your safety is our priority.
How do you know if your home needs rewiring?
There are a few ways to tell if your home needs rewiring…
How old is your home?
If your home was built before 1980 and hasn’t been rewired, you are definitely due. Earth cables were not used during this time and these are the cables that stop electric shocks in the event of an overload. If your home was to suffer from a power cut, it is likely to come into a lot more damage. As well as this, it probably has aluminium wiring, rather than copper as we currently use.
Check out your consumer unit
On your consumer unit (fuse box), it should be dated with when the electrics were installed. Similar to my last point, if the date is before 1980, it would be a good idea for us to check out your home to make sure everything is safe. This date doesn’t include rewiring, so your home may be safe, but it is always better to check.
This is the simplest and safest way to check your home. Our electricians can offer a free survey for your home, talking you through the process and the cost, as well as answering any questions you may have.
